Artist Residencies & Retreats: Past & Upcoming

Spring 2027: Nawat Fes (Application Submitted), Fes, Morocco. Project: “Fes: The Archive of Patina.” To undertake a site-specific investigation into the architectural and material memory of the Fes medina, framing its surfaces as a primary historical archive. This research will serve as the crucial non-European third pillar for my ongoing international comparative study of material decay and historical layering.

January 2027: Unpack Studio Havana (Upcoming), Havana, Cuba. Project: “Traza y Transito: The Compressed Archive of Cuban Mobility.” A series of intimate mixed-media collages that process locally-sourced Cuban ephemera to investigate identity, migration, and the visible layers of memory embedded in Havana’s material culture.

October 2026: La Baldi Residency (Application Submitted), Montegiovi, Tuscany, Italy. Project: “The Cartography of Ascent and Decline.” To pivot the comparative study from horizontal to vertical topography, foraging and processing volcanic earth pigments from Monte Amiata to create abstract visual maps of geological strata.

September 2026: La Maison de Beaumont Residency (Upcoming), Provence region of South of France. Project: Dedicated to the abstract translation of the “Provencal Patinas” photographic study, establishing the visual vocabulary (line, shape, color) for the subsequent comparative Tuscan project.

August 2026: Palazzo Monti Residency (Application Submitted), Brescia, Italy. Project: “The Imprinted Wall.” A direct conceptual response to the palazzo, aiming to formalize the dialogue between its enduring materiality and my contemporary artistic concerns.

July 2026: Espacio Lavadero Residency (Application Submitted), Granada, Spain. Project: “Formal Studies in Light and Scale.” Produce a series of lightweight, modular, unstretched canvas sections (each up to 100cm x 70cm) that will ultimately form a single, expansive installation piece (up to 2m x 1.5m).

June 2026: Mudhouse Residency (Application Submitted), Crete, Greece. Project: “Aegean Topographies.” To leverage my dual US-Greek citizenship and investigate the material history of the coastal environment. Project will involve collecting and processing earth and mineral pigments found in Cretan soils and documenting their chromatic range to create a comparative visual study of decay and color.

September 2025: L’Artesania, L’Albi, Spain. Focus: Interdisciplinary material research and site-based documentation of local architecture and ephemeral street text.
